Whether you're a seasoned Botox enthusiast or a first-time client, we’ll ensure you receive optimal results and a seamless experience from first contact, till long after treatment has concluded.
To help you make the most of your Botox treatment, we've used this latest blog post to compile a detailed guide on the essential do's and don'ts to follow both before, and after your appointment.
Do: Schedule a Consultation
Before your Botox treatment at lash+browlab, you should schedule a consultation with one of our skilled practitioners at our Clapham salon. This allows us to understand your aesthetic goals, assess your medical history, and provide personalised advice tailored to your needs.
Do: Avoid Certain Medications & Supplements
In the week leading up to your appointment, avoid medications and supplements that can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, and fish oil. If on prescription medication, we urge Clapham clients to consult with their healthcare provider before making any changes to their current regiment.
Do: Stay Hydrated and Nourished
Hydration is key to overall skin health. Drink plenty of water and maintain a balanced diet to ensure your skin is in ideal condition for commencing Botox treatment.
Don’t: Consume Alcohol
Refrain from drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before Botox appointments. Alcohol can thin the blood, increasing the likelihood of bruising and swelling post-treatment.
Don’t: Undergo Other Facial Treatments
Avoid scheduling any other facial treatments such as peels, microdermabrasion, or laser treatments within a week of your Botox appointment – either at our Clapham salon, or anywhere else! As much as we appreciate your enthusiasm for achieving glowing skin, these procedures can increase epidermal sensitivity and potentially interfere with your Botox results.
Do: Follow Post-Treatment Instructions
The team at lash+browlab in Clapham will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions. Adhering to these guidelines is crucial for achieving the maximum Botox results. This typically includes avoiding lying down/bending over for the first few hours post-treatment.
Do: Stay Upright and Avoid Pressure
For at least 4-6 hours after your treatment, keep your head upright and avoid any activities that put pressure on the treated areas. This helps prevent the Botox from migrating to unintended areas.
Do: Apply a Cold Compress
If you notice swelling or discomfort after visiting us for Botox, gently placing a cold compress on the problem area can provide relief. Make sure to wrap the ice pack in a cloth to protect your skin.
Don’t: Exercise Strenuously
Clapham fitness buffs, beware – you should avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours post-treatment. Increased blood flow and sweating can cause Botox to move away from the targeted muscles, diminishing the effectiveness of your treatment.
Don’t: Touch or Massage the Treated Areas
Refrain from touching, massaging, or applying pressure to the treated areas for at least 24 hours. This includes avoiding facials or facial massages, which can disrupt the Botox and affect your results.
Don’t: Expose Your Skin to Excessive Heat
For the first 24-48 hours, Clapham clients should make all attempts to avoid exposure to excessive heat, such as hot baths, saunas and prolonged sun exposure. Heat can increase swelling and potentially reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.
At lash+browlab, we are committed to providing the Clapham community with gold standard Botox treatments and exceptional care. By following these do’s and don’ts before and after your Botox appointment, you can ensure that your treatment yields optimal results.
